This article is about the case of Salem Steel North America, LLC v. Shanghai Shangshang Stainless Pipe Co.,Ltd..Shangshang sold stainless pipe to New Jersy-based Salem for resale in the United States. Due to quality problems, Salem filed a complaint before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersy alleging claims for breach of contract,fraud,negligent misrepresentation, and tortious interference with a contract. Shangshang instituted a motion to dismiss the complaint pursuant to Fed.R.Civ.P. 12(b)(2) for lack of personal j urisdiction. The Court finds minimum contacts exist between Shangshang and New Jersy, and asserting j urisdiction over Shangshang is fair and reasonable, thus,Shangshang's motion to dismiss is denied. This article briefl y introduced the facts of the case, analysed the reasoning of the Court's decision, and commented on the significance of the case.
