This research focuses on the empirical analysis of the factors affecting the commercial presence of foreign bank in China based on the data during 1985 ~2007. The paper discovered that based on the data analysis, the increase of com growth of foreign direct investment is the driving force of increase of commercial presence of foreign banks in China ; there is a strong causality relationship between the growth of GDP per capita; More commitment made by the government of market access in GATS negotiation will not defin itely increase the scale of commercial presence of foreign banks but the later infl uence the former heavily; Lastly, the growth of foeign trade volume and the profi topportunities in domestic market are not the very important determinants of the scale of commercial presence.
