AftertheestablishmentofAPECin 1989，APECmembersremainedreservedorneutralintheir response to the proposal for the creation of an intra-FTA withinAPEC. However，they agreed on the need topromo tean FTAAP tospeed upeconomiccooperationamongAPECmembers as along-termplanfor rapidintra region al in tegrationandthebreakdownoftheDoha Roundinrecenttimes.Discussions foran FTAAPdonot contradict Korea's strategic FTAplans and，as aresult，Korea has maintainedaninterest inpromotinganFTAAPas along-termplanratherthana short-termplan.This essaywill focus onthe feasibility of an FTAAP and the dif iculties it will meet in the future.
