Thepaperpresentsatheoreticalanalysisandconstructsanempiricalmodelusing 1995～2009 paneldataof China'sprovinces.Theresultsshowthatthedirecttechnologyspilloverefectfromexport sectors to the non-export sectors improves overall energy efi ciency and the indirect ef ect of technology imitation and competition on the energy efi ciency shows negative. Human capital promotes export's energy ef iciency improvement. Further sub-regional study shows that the indirect export technical ef ects on the energy ef iciency in dif erent regions perform dif erently.
