This paper discusses the impact of export and import structure on the wage inequality in China. The export of labor-intensive products is substituted by the export of tech-intensive prod ucts and will expand the wageinequality. Theimpactoftheimportstructureonwageinequalityis uncertain. Furthermore,industry characteristics has a significant effect on wage inequality. The firms in tech-intensive industry prefer to train skilled labor. The firms in labor-intensive industry prefer to hire unskilled labor. The policy implication is that government should encourage firms to investmoreinR&Dandmaketechnologyas anewinput.
