Abstract:China’s foreign direct investment in recent years has achieved rapid growth. In this paper, the impact of cultural dual factors of China’s foreign investment flows and stocks are from 2006 to 2010 examined for the sample interval. For the dimensions of cultural distance, the frameworks of Hofstede and GLOBE are discussed respectively. It is found that FDI flows have not significant relationship with Hofstede cultural distance but relates negatively to GLOBE cultural distance. However, FDI stocks present a significantly negative relation with both Hofstede cultural distance and GLOBE cultural distance. FDI flows and FDI stocks have shown a significant positive relationship with cultural proximity. This study indicates that from the perspective of more comprehensive cultural factors, compared to the Hofstede’s framework, GLOBE is more applicable for FDI research, and compared to the cultural distance, cultural proximity has a greater impact on China’s foreign direct investment
