Abstract:After ratification of “Lisbon Treaty”, the new FTAs entered into by EU are similar to the NAFTA, which extends EU’s values on investment protection, human rights, and environmental protection to the developing countries. The abandonment of Dutch Golden Rules and adoption of NAFTA-like FTAs reflects EU's needs to pursue legal certainty, rebalance the investor protection and Members’ regulatory power, and converges with US policies, which offers precious lessens to China in establishing Chinese foreign investment protection ideology.
