Abstract:International migration changes to bi-directional or multi-directional flow from previous one-way flow (flow from developing countries to developed ones), i.e., it changes from brain drain to more complicated brain circulation. This paper proposes an intertemporal job searching model to explain this new phenomenon and shows that emigration countries may benefit from intertemporal flow of emigrants, which implies that emigration shall not be considered simply as brain drain of emigration countries.
