The U.S.-Mexico trucking dispute is a trade dispute concerning Mexican truckers’s right to provide cross-border truck transportation services in the U.S. according to NAFTA. The process of resolving this dispute lasted for almost 16 years. It fully demonstrats the great influence of the interest groups in the forming of foreign trade policies of the U.S. What’s more, it also highlights the“pragmatism”attitude towards the international law of the U.S. and reflects the characteristic of domestic political game in the formulation of foreign trade policy. However, the final resolution of this dispute provides a useful reference to the modern world on how to deal with the increasing conflicts on trade-related social issues in the multilateral trade system.
