Abstract:“Soft Capability”delayed the development of Shanghai International Shipping Center. However, the settlement and operation of Shanghai Free Trade Zone brought grand opportunities. From the view of shipping business, auxiliary business, and derivative services, this paper analyzes the“policy bonus”for Shanghai international shipping center after the FTZ settlement, and referenes the successful experience from four famous international shipping centers in the world, like London, Hong Kong, Rotterdam, and Singapore, by comparing their functions for international shipping centers. Finally, based on FTZ operation, it raises suggestions for function optimization of Shanghai international shipping center on lay out of auxiliary business, improvement of shipping business service level, development of shipping finance and arbitration, and enhancement of shipping training and education.
