Abstract:China’s agriculture is at the bottom of the“smile curve”of the global agricultural value chain, which has long suffered from unequal treatment. The calculation results of the technical complexity of the export of agricultural products show that, compared with the G20 countries, China’s agricultural export technology is not high, and the gap between the highest countries showing a gradually expanding trend. Regression of the G20’s agricultural OFDI panel data shows that agricultural OFDI features spillover effect and it can enhance the technical content of export of agricultural products in home country, and the enhancement needs a “learning process”. In addition, the impact of agricultural FDI on the technical content of export products is lagging behind. Therefore, in order to realize the rise of global agricultural value chain position, China should further encourage agricultural enterprises to“go global”; improving agricultural investment environment and creating conditions for foreign direct investment also help to enhance the position of the value chain. Meanwhile, China should open winder, providing support for agricultural development; what’s more, promotion of the financial system reform and improvement of the domestic financial services are also important for China’s agricultural global value chain.
