Abstract:With the rapid development of digital currency, the lack of supervision is becoming ever more prominent. This default has decreased digital currency platforms’credibility and blocked them from occupying more important positions in cross-border transactions. Targeting this default, the People’s Bank of China developed a non-banking institute online payment clearance platform which functions as a common central clearing institution for all the digital currency. This new platform has changed the basic transaction structure and put digital currency under its supervision. This measurement lowered the resistance digital currency suffered in cross-border transactions by increasing the credibility of the digital currency while decreasing its risk. This essay discusses facilitating digital currency in cross-border transactions and its regulatory challenges by using Alipay as an example.
