Abstract:Using WIOD database, this paper calculates and analyzes the degree of China’s integration into GVCs from value added (forward industrial linkages) and final products (backward industrial linkages). The result indicates that the degree of China’s integration into GVCs has the characteristics of inverted U-shaped relationship, and domestic economic activities play a more and more important role since 2006. Therefore, the current phenomenon of anti-globalization has a limited effect on China’s economic growth. The degree of China’s integration into GVCs is at the middle class in the world. The degree of integration from final products’perspective is higher, but the degree of integration from VA’s perspective is lower than the world level. The secondary industry predominates the integration into GVCs,electrical and optical equipment manufacturing, rubber and plastics have the deepest global value chain integration in China. In the future, the emphasis of China’s integration into GVCs is to improve the degree from VA’s perspective.
