Abstract:The Agreement between the European Union and Japan for an Economic Partnership is a rigorous bilateral trade agreement of“high standard in all dimensions”made by the developed economies. It covers a wide range, including trade in goods, trade in services, investment liberalisation and sustainable development, etc. Under the background of the rise of global trade protectionism, its entry into force will have a significant impact on the contracting parties, the world political and economic pattern and China. One of China’s methods towards such operation is to establish a model high-level FTA with Chinese characteristics by reference to the advantages of the bilateral trade agreement in consideration of its national development differences.Meanwhile, it is also worth considering the issue of an overall and comprehensive strategy of FTA featuring“the five-pronged approach”.
