Abstract:The paper calculates the dual margin of agricultural products export growth in China, and empirically tests its home market effect, using the gravity model including domestic demand. The results show that, the intensive margin of overall agricultural products export growth has home market effect, but the extensive margin of that has no such effect, which means that domestic demand mainly promotes the export of agricultural products through intensive margin. From the specific agricultural products, the intensive margins of aquatic products, vegetables, and fruits export growth have home market effects; the extensive of bulk farm-products, vegetables and fruits export growth have adverse home market effects. Therefore, China should accelerate the reform of the market demand oriented agricultural supply side in the predicament of the inferiority of agricultural resources.
