Taking 50 major host countries of China’s OFDI as samples, the paper quantitatively evaluates the intensity level of these BITs between China and these major investment host countries from three aspects of institutional environment, overall BIT and specific provisions of BIT. The intensity level of BITs between China and developed countries is higher than the overall average intensity level of BITs between China and major investment host countries, while the intensity level of BITs between China and developing countries is lower than that overall average level. In addition, for different BIT provisions in different regions, the situation of BITs between major investment host countries and China is relatively complicated, and the intensity level of BITs varies greatly from country to country.
