The status of Free Trade Agreement (FTA), as one of the three major tools of US trade policy, has gradually risen in recent years. Through the analysis of the FTA texts signed by the United States in the past twenty years, and comparing them with the FTAs signed by the European Union and Japan, we can find that the US FTAs are consistent in respect of text framework, basic terms, policy direction, etc., with an obvious tendency to strengthen trade policy and higher FTA standards than other countries, especially post-border rules. In recent years, FTA, as a complement with US unilateralism in the three trade policy tools, tends to prefer exclusivity, rule restructuring and enhanced control.
