Abstract:The high entry costs, complicated custom procedures and high risk costs in traditional international trade model restrict SMEs from directly participating in trade. Information technology has spawned the emergence of various cross-border e-commerce platforms. The COVID-19 has accelerated the strong rise of the digital economy and digital trade. Cross-border e-commerce platform, as a new type of trade intermediary, attracts a large number of small and medium-sized sellers to move in and promote the inclusive growth of global trade. Therefore, this paper focuses on the analysis of the theoretical mechanisms and typical facts behind cross-border e-commerce platform promoting the global inclusive trade development. We find that cross-border e-commerce platforms have obvious advantages in terms of trade costs, transaction procedures, model innovation and services trade. Global inclusive trade presents an all-round, multi-level and wide-ranging development trend. Global inclusive trade faces many internal and external challenges. Based on the above findings, further targeted policy recommendations are put forward.
