Abstract:This paper constructs four factors reflecting the industry’s technology absorptive capacity, including technology gap, human capital level, marketization degree, and foreign trade openness, and uses the threshold panel data to study the threshold effect of absorptive capacity on FDI low-carbon technology spillover. Results show that FDI low-carbon technology spillovers have non-linear threshold effects in the above four factors. The higher the level of human capital and the degree of marketization is, the more significant the low-carbon technology spillover effects of FDI will be. The moderate technology gap and the degree of openness are both conducive to the spillover of FDI carbon emission reduction technology, too low or too high technology gap or openness to the outside world is not conducive to the low-carbon technology spillover effects of FDI. Therefore, the industries especially high-carbon emission industries, need to further improve the level of human capital and the market competition mechanism, and the position of the industry in the division of global trade needs to be improved. In addition, the introduction of FDI cannot blindly pursue high-tech, and needs to be appropriately considered in conjunction with the technical level of domestic enterprises.
