Building a new development paradigm featuring a dual circulation is not only a strategic choice to elevate China’s economic development, but also a major initiative to forge new advantages in international economic cooperation and competition. Its essence lies in proactively shifting from the export-oriented,“away-game”model of economic globalization of the past to a domesticdemand-led,“home-game”model of economic globalization. Global value chains serve as a useful tool for studying this major strategic framework, but the export-oriented division of labor within global value chains runs counter to the requirement that the new development paradigm be centered on the domestic economic cycle. In the future, China’s domestic enterprises must participate in the international division of labor by building global value chains that are autonomous and controllable, based on the massive scale of domestic demand. The monograph《Research on Domestic Demand-Led Global Value Chains》employs rigorous and standardized research methods alongside rich and detailed empirical cases to provide an in-depth and systematic exposition of the intrinsic operational logic and mechanisms of domestic demand-led global value chains. It not only enriches and expands the boundaries of global value chain research in the academic literature but also contributes forward-looking, foundational, and pioneering theoretical research toward exploring the construction of the new dual-circulation development paradigm.
